I studied ceramics in Calgary and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I now make work from my studio Cyan Clayworks in Edinburgh.
Making my functional work in small batches, I want to explore formal and aesthetic ideas and choices for individual pieces. I often return to particular narratives over and over again but in new ways. Some of them I’ve created myself, but most have been distilled down through former tutors and other great makers. Additionally in teaching where I get great satisfaction is the passing on of lessons learned and stories to accompany. In my practice I try to leave quiet clues as to why I made it, and reflect the work made before without relying on a strict tradition.
