I just wanted to write about our open studios here at Beaverhall Arts Studios last weekend. For me it was an accumulation of all of the work I’ve been doing, besides teaching in the studio, since I left my full time technicians job at the Edinburgh Academy.
There was a great response to my work from so many people through the doors over the weekend. Some of the people were really attracted to the cups I decorated with gold lustre and enamel transfers, while others liked the more monochromatic blue. It was really rewarding to get a response either by dialogue or purchase this work as I couldn’t really tell whether I was heading in the right direction or not.
I’m going to keep on developing the surface of these cups in the new year, now that I have figured out how to use this new to me machine, and I will be introducing other more complex forms for the table and kitchen.
