Finally getting some cups made in the studio today. The design is inspired by 18th Century Japanese nabeshima porcelain. The big difference is that mine is machine made by a Canadian living in Scotland in the 21st Century. I guess its going to be different enough then. Nabeshima is a well known Arita porcelain with the distinguishing feature between it and kakaeimon is cobalt underglaze decoration. I have really admired kakaeimon porcelain for its sparse but vibrant polychrome enamel. This direction that I’m working towards is my relaunch as a full time maker. I am hoping to have a lot of these cups finished for our open weekend at Beaverhall Art Studios on the weekend of the 24th of November.
